IM Users and no time limit; offers almost
full functionality of IMConsole 2003 R3 except
for the access to the 'Enhanced Circular Logging'
feature to set policy to retain or delete
message content archives. Under this edition,
however the application is set to delete message
content automatically while retaining the
other details of the message record to provide
management information reports and statistics
about IM and Auditing Activity etc.
In addition, this also provides a real time
update on presence-information concerning
the 'Key Presence Indicators' (KPI) for the
LCS 2003 deployment in the entire organization
through 'Presence Dashboard'.
Incorporation of auto-deletion functionality
in the ‘Universal Edition’ makes
IMConsole 2003 (R3) suitable for every organization
deploying Live Communications Server 2003
Instant Messaging, whether it is a large or
a SMB and irrespective of the applicability
of any rules /regulations for archiving all
instant messages. It enables monitoring and
administration of IM activity in the organization
without any hassles involved with archiving
of IM archives. Several Research studies have
shown that many enterprises do not wish to
archive Instant messages mainly for fear of
legal implications. Costs relating to creation
of an infrastructure and of maintaining the
archives are also a factor though it is of
secondary importance. |

Suitable for deployments
in SMBs and Large enterprises that want to
avoid the hassles of maintaining the IM Archives
and therefore have not enabled the IM Archiving
services of Microsoft LCS 2003. This edition
offers the flexibility to view only the ‘Presence
Dashboard’ and the related Presence
statistics. There is practically no time limit
for the license; it however, does not offer
the flexibility to view the ‘IM Dashboard’
of IMConsole 2003 (R3) which requires IM Archiving
services to be enabled. The software can be
field-upgraded to either ‘Universal
Edition’ or ‘Premium Edition’
upon purchasing the appropriate product license. |

basis. Currently pricing is based on the total
number of IM-enabled Users in the enterprise
