| Microsoft Office Live
Communications Server 2005 (LCS 2005) provides a
real-time communications platform for corporate
instant messaging, and presence, including IM Archiving
Services to archive the IM content to a common SQL
2000 database for entire enterprise wide IM activity. |
By combining Live Communications Server presence
awareness and IM with the Microsoft Office
System, businesses improve communication and
productivity. However, Microsoft Office Live
Communications Server 2005 (both Standard
and Enterprise editions), lacks 'out-of-the-box'
many key functionalities including comprehensive
monitoring, reporting and auditing capability
for Instant Messaging Archives and also does
not provide any statistics related to 'Presence'
information.
To an IM administrator in any enterprise it
becomes apparent soon after deploying LCS
2005 Instant messaging that are no counters
or mechanisms to tell which employees are
sending IMs to whom on the public clouds,
to IM users on which domains, and number of
messages sent or received etc. However, enterprise
admins want to see how this new service is
being used and LCS 2005 has no way of providing
this information.

above information for management and statistical
