The Microsoft Exchange 2000 Instant
Messaging Service does not offer IM
content logging functionality "out-of-the-box".
IMScribe® offers an integrated,
enterprise-scale platform for logging,
archiving, reviewing, reporting, and
auditing Exchange IM content. IMScribe®
incorporates major enterprise IM archiving
needs, having been designed in close
cooperation with enterprise customers
across different industry verticals
who have deployed Microsoft Exchange
2000 Instant Messaging.
IMScribe® installs on existing
Microsoft Exchange 2000 IM Home Servers,
and captures the content of Exchange
IM traffic to local log files on these
servers. These log files are periodically
archived to a common SQL Server database.
A web console provides rich reviewing,
reporting and auditing capabilities.
Messages can be reviewed by searching on
a number of criteria such as message content,
sender/recipient identities, date ranges,
etc. Entire conversation threads can be
reviewed (reconstructed from the original
conversation spanning multiple servers),
as can multi-party conversations.
Finally, IMScribe® provides a comprehensive
set of reports that provide a variety
of useful statistics on enterprise-wide
IM activity, such as the average message
size for IM conversations, top 10
message senders, per-user and per-reviewer
statistics, etc.
IMScribe® is in use in many large
global enterprises including many
Fortune 500 companies in diverse industries.
These users have provided a good amount
of feedback, which has formed the
basis and also spurred the development
of this new upgraded version 5.0.
Cordant's Solutions have been designed
to ensure future upgrade ability to
Microsoft enterprise Instant Messaging
offerings. The Enterprises using Exchange
IM and IMScribe® archiving can
seamlessly upgrade to the Live Communications
Server 2003 and LCS 2005 (based on
the SIP protocol) and continue to
use the same Cordant archiving, reviewing,
auditing, and reporting infrastructure.
