Bellevue,
WA. January 17, 2002 - Cordant, Inc., a leader
in enterprise IM infrastructure, today announced
that it acquired the IP assets of IMfuse, Inc.,
an Alexandria, VA based developer of enterprise
IM application infrastructure, to accelerate the
development of key products that will further extend
the company's competitive advantage. "This
acquisition will enable Cordant to accelerate
development of its enterprise platform for Instant
Messaging", said Sonu Aggarwal, Cordant CEO.
"IMfuse's innovative IM application toolkit
and IMfusion offering for AOL® and Jabber®
will directly enhance Cordant's upcoming offerings,
including the IMConnect component of its
Application Server platform."
"We saw Cordant as having the vision, direction,
and customer relationships to ideally leverage
our technology in the enterprise IM space,"
said Paul Konigsberg, IMfuse CEO. "IMfuse
is proud to join forces with Cordant. Our combined
strengths bring a great deal of experience and
insight to our shared vision. Together we plan
to develop the potential of Instant Messaging
to enhance enterprise productivity", said
Jesse Koontz, IMfuse co-founder & CTO, who
has since joined Cordant as CTO under the terms
of acquisition.
"Cordant's Instant Messaging platform could
do for IM what Outlook® did for e-mail, moving
it from a consumer-focused fad to a critical business
tool," said Jeff Vance, Editor of E-Infrastructure
Times, an industry newsletter focused on
e-infrastructure startups and emerging technologies.
"The IMfuse acquisition by Cordant is a very
strategic one, strengthening Cordant's product
portfolio -- with an IM gateway, as well as presence
and notification infrastructure -- and giving
Cordant a competitive edge as they target the
enterprise market."
IMfuse's enterprise server offering, IMfusion,
provides interoperability to users of diverse
public IM networks such as AIM® (AOL) and
Jabber. Moreover, IMfuse offers a toolkit to help
developers build business applications on IMfusion,
its IM platform.
